I recently snapped up this little beauty - its a somewhat-battered Luxury Drive made by T.C. Jauernig.
This is an old, 2-knob version of the Luxury Drive, inscribed with "#2 / 20". Despite its weathered looks, this thing sounds incredible. I tried it out along with 4 other new pedal acquisitions and went straight back to this one. This is a classy pedal.
I emailed Tim Jauernig to see if he could provide a bit more info about this particular batch of Luxury Drives. He got back to me within the day:
"These were made for a shop in Australia. I forget the name. The two knob versions were called model “t”. T was for trim. The original Luxury Drive circuit boosts even when the knob is all the way down. With the trim you could bring the gain down to unity if you wanted. I’ve made the Lux since April of 2003. It was my first pedal I sold."
It's hard to pin-down exactly what this pedal does to your tone, but its certainly doing something good. Greg Koch called it "butane" - hard to disagree.
If you are looking for a clean boost with an edge, Tim stills makes the Luxury Drive. You can read more about Tim and his journey at his website here . Cheers.
