Snapshot: Foxrox Electronics Hot Silicon
14 Apr 2018

I love taking photos of this pedal.
Â
And I am a big fan of Dave Fox's work in general: Dave has been creating quality FX for nearly 25 years, producing units like the Captain Coconut and the TZF Paradox, and ZIM. A+ stuff!
Â
The Hot Silicon is Dave's version of the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face using BC109Cs, being made since around 2005. Like its inspiration, and true to its name, you get the feeling the Hot Silicon could scorch an amp if not properly supervised!Â
Â
But Dave has built some fail-safes into this thing in order to tame the circuitry. The Grit knob plays a big part here - allowing for some fine tuning for what is otherwise a rampant, wild beast!
Â
Surprisingly good on the bass, and you can pick them up for a decent price for a quality build like this. Don't be scared to try it out. Just don't use near any fine china!
Â
Check out Dave's site for all of his weird and wonderful creations:Â ( Link )
